Owner and Lead Guide JR Borchelt has been hunting since he was knee-high to a grasshopper growing up in northern Illinois. While his family primarily hunted deer, they found an opportunity to chase Canada Geese as well. When Borchelt relocated to NW Missouri he found the area to be full of waterfowl opportunity and was able to further pursue his passion for hunting ducks, geese, and what really gets him going – snow geese.
JR is most intrigued by the challenge waterfowl hunting presents. Each day is different and brings a new challenge to figure out what the birds want to see. Considering many of the waterfowl migrating through NW Missouri have already flown hundreds or thousands of miles, convincing them to stop at our spreads for food or rest is always an exhilarating experience. And while this is always challenging, being able to leverage years of experience helps tip the odds a little more in the hunters’ favor. Big spreads and saucy locations never hurt, either!
